Profile

My name is Nellie Deutsch . I am currently pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership, specializing in curriculum and instruction at the University of Phoenix online (scheduled to finish in 2009). I am researching blended learning and instructor use of web 2.0 tools for instruction and learning in higher education. I am a Canadian (Toronto) residing in Israel. I have been teaching English as a foreign language to high school and adult learners for over 30 years. I am interested in collaborating with other teachers worldwide and do this on Building Relationship. In my free time, I help educators become aware of the value of integrating web 2.0 tools for instruction and learning on a Moodle website called Integrating Technology: Exploring New Domains. I am doing this on a voluntary basis because I am passionate about learning and would like to see e-learning available and free worldwide. I believe collaboration is the key to improving education and ultimately world peace.

I am the editor of Etni Rag, an online journal on a voluntary basis (writers invited) and involved in social networking: Doctoral Students, and English United Teachers of Israel. In addition, I created the following ning social blogs: International Collaboration, Blended Learning and Instruction, Online Instruction, and a few wikis on wikispaces, pbwikis, and wetpaint. You are invited to join and contribute to blended learning and instruction, Connecting Online ning and online conference via WiZiQ, and other ning and facebook groups I created. I am passionate about learning and love to share my explorations and findings with others. One of my projects was published on Once Upon a School. In addition, I have participated in iEARN Moving Voices - Digital Video Exchanges and other professional development programs at iEARN and SCoPE, and facilitated online courses on Knowplace, and SCoPE. I practice mindfulness, Reiki, and Alexander technique.
