Welcome to my patch in the Knowledge Garden of WikiEducator!
My name is Vasi and I currently live in Whangarei, New Zealand and work at NorthTec as Flexible learning manager. In my career I've been involved in training and development in an industrial (services and manufacturing) as well as educational environment and I feel really passionate about working in this field. I'm looking forward to engage in a healthy intellectual exchange and fruitful discussions with other fellow educators and gardeners.
Blossoming interests:
I'm interested in developing a competency matrix with core and custom skills relevant to academic staff today and in the next 5 years that could be used to identify staff competency levels as well as training needs. This is the first step forward to exploring effective strategies in developing academic staff confidence and capability with using ICT in a constantly changing educational landscape. I'm also interested to explore the CoP model based on Etienne Wenger's extensive work and research [1] and implement it in the professional development of academic staff. You are welcome to investigate and explore the use of communities of practice (CoP) model and it’s appropriateness for use in professional development for educators with me.
