I need some help on my User Page (1)
Hi Rob,
Can you please have a look at my user page [[1]]. In the feedback and notes form my WikiNeighbours section I have this dotted blue rectangle. Can you please tell my how it appears and what I can do to remove it.
ta
Sandy
Hi Sandy,
Great work on your user page and sandbox! I have certified you as Apprentice Level 2 and we have to even finished the first week :-)
The blue dotted rectangle occurs when there is a space between the left margin and the text. For example
This is in a blue rectangle.
The tricky thing about your rectangle was that it was a space between the left margin and the closing </font> tag.
Thanks Rob - I am having lots of fun.

Rob, I think you may be the person Wayne was telling me may be available for some work on training materials (but do not let on I know) :-)
He mentioned a NZ-Canadian dual national and in looking who from NZ is registered for L4C31 I saw your name.
I am interested to see the tutorials modified to reflect the FCK editor, as I then feel more comfortable asking NZ teachers to do the training.
Anyway, hello from Wellington on a mild spring (?) day.
Paul.

Oops the lesson on the front page was an error -- my mistake. Was testing a new input box for lesson templates (New_Zealand_Schools_OER_Portal/Resources/Standard_lesson_plan_template) for possible errors users could make including inadvertently editing the main page. Forgot to revert -- oops.
Instead of using the create parameter for -- I'm using the comment parameter in case a user doesn't see the warning that they may be editing an existing page.

for fixing the extended box on my page :O) kelly aka kiwispouse
Hi Kelly,
No worries. You asked about embedding ppt in your content? One way is to convert it to open office format and use a .swf slideshow wrapper (see Demo Slideshow). The syntax is not for the lighthearted but it works. Let me know if you need some help with it.

You have been one of the better tutors i have had recently. I from my point of view the workshop was a success. I think the commonwelth of learrning should invest in more learning activities of this nature. i also think we should move beyond just a wiki.
Thanks! I thought everyone did their best and hopefully got something out of it. Check out Special Pages down on the bottom of the left hand side bar. Once you navigate there you should find a listing of links. The one to "Version" lists the extensions that are running on the wiki. There are thousands of others that are out there as well. Let me know what you think would make it more than a wiki.

Hi Martin,
Are you looking for something like this or this?
The first cricket match that I ever watched was Nathan Astle's world's fastest Test double century in terms of balls faced (total innings: 222 vs England in Jade Stadium, Christchurch 2002. I don't know if I will ever witness something like that again.
Cheers

National and Transnational Curriculum Framework for WE (14)
There have been no changes to this discussion for at least 14 days. If it is concluded, you may want to write a summary.
Hi Rob Kruhlak,
Leigh Blackall working with Otago Polytechnic in Educational Development has set up a page for discussions on WE framework of National and Transnational curriculum in the WikiEducator gorup on Google Groups. The discussions are very much interesing and constructive. All WE community members are warm welcome to make it a permanent venue for discussions on Curricula. The intermediate outputs on the discussions will be added/ linked to the Curriculum Project Node ( http://www.wikieducator.org/Curriculum_INDEX ) on WE

Thank you very much for the advice you have given me.
How do you make a duplicate of such a template?
Is it OK if I go to Edit Mode and copy the content and paste it in another page eg: my sandbox?
This is what I do now, when I want to study the code of any interesting page or a template.
I looked at the templates you are designing; AnswerBox. Probably you will be able to modify these tables to include "Feedback" property in the cells of the second column. Then we can use that template as an iDevice for "Self Assessment"
Thanks
Hi Godfrey,
Yes, I just cut and paste the content into another page. If it is template content then I usually cut and paste it into a new template (something like Template:<myTestTemplateName>). I usually forget but it is a good idea to put a comment in the summary text field to say where it came from. As you mentioned, other content is easily to cut and paste into your sandbox.
Good idea for the AnswerBox template. There is a Template:Self Assessment that has a slightly different method for providing feedback.
Cheers Rob

Hi Krushly, I was not aware that I had changed the above iDevice. I was exploring templates of different iDevices to find out how they were designed. I tried to customise "Reflection2" template to see whether it is possible to design an idevice similar to "Activities" template in order to include a feedback. When I could not succeed, I gave up.
I am very happy that you have noticed it and reverted it. How ever, I am very sorry if I have created any problem to our WE team and the community. Thank you very much for reverting it.
Perhaps, you must be in a good position to help me.
I would like to have an iDevice for "Activities" similar to "Reflection2". It should be in a table format with two columns. Left column to have a short question and the right column to have the answer hidden under a 'button' with a label similar to "Check" or some thing suitable. Do you think you will be able to design one. I feel that it will be a useful pedagogical templte. I think all our colleagues will like it.
Thanks again.
I like to see what I have done! (1)

Handling links print v. WE (2)
There have been no changes to this discussion for at least 14 days. If it is concluded, you may want to write a summary.
Wayne suggested I talk with you about handling links. I'm working on the OER Handbook project and we want to do a print version by September. I was wondering what you thought was the best way to display links on WE with eventual transfer to print in mind.
Rob -- One possibility is to implement a footnote template.
In the main body of the text a superscript number is inserted which links to a footnote list at the bottom of the page containing the full url -- which will print as text.
I see this as an interim solution -- because I'm hoping that the pediapress folk will build a feature to handle the printing of full urls as footnotes in the case of links during the parsing process. However, I don't know when this will be implemented and the OER handbook team need a solution by 30 June.
This will entail a little extra work to insert the footnotes -- but I think it could work. Perhaps there's a smart hack using the print specific version of a template -- but am not sure whether we can transclude for print output.
Hi Sgurell,
You pose a very interesting question. I have been thinking about it for the past couple of days and to be honest need some more time so I can give you an answer. I plan to do some more research and get back to you by early next week. I hope that will not be too late.
