Hi Helena,

The Screen movies are an excellent addition.

  1. We must make sure that we have links from the relevant activities to the show, me how movies. See for example the activity on this page: http://www.wikieducator.org/Wikieducator_tutorial/Collaborative_Editing/Diff_and_History
  2. I've noticed that the bold and italics movies may have been exported under the "poorer" quality option - or perhaps we've got the image size wrong. I don't have the original image dimensions - so not sure.

thanks for the flag; country template considerations

Hi Helena,

Thanks for posting the flag.

BTW: the vision for these country pages, is to first get some content up on the country page. The chapter in each country takes responsibility for updating each country page, as well as its chapter page.

Also, the country page can be, and probably should be redesigned (keeping the same convention - www.wikieducator.org/New_Zealand) according to the way that reflects local culture, colors, etc.

Hi Helena

I was introduced to eXe when I was doing a Moodle course with NIACE in the UK. It is on my list of things to do to learn how to use it. I notice there is a tutorial here on WikiEducator. Is that the best place to start? I'd value your advice.

By the way, I share your frustration with the slow uptake of technology in schools. Although I hear great stories of what teachers are doing, my own children are not using ICT in any way at school. --Jane Brotchie

Thanks for the suggestion to link up to Brent's resource on Audacity. I was going to ask where Riverton was but fortunately I read to the end of your email. Now I know and I've seen Brent's blog... What a great photo. Glad I visited as these kind of images and stories helps me stay focused on what has always drawn me into all this stuff. The Audacity resource is great. Also helps me to get a better sense of how people use WikiEducator. Your pages too, including exe, which I will try to take a close look at.

Hi Helena,

I've scanned the pre-workshop logistics revisions and this is looking good. Initial feedback:

  • I'm wondering whether we shouldn't "brand" the OER toolkit as a "Learning4Content" resource. I'm planning to develop a visual identity for the Learning4Content project, i.e. developing a brochure and corresponding graphic. This can then be used across all the relevant pages, slideshow backgrounds etc. If we go this route - we may need to edit out OER Workshop and replace this with "Learning4Content".
  • I like the pre-workshop activity - will you take a look and see if the questions can be categorised. I'm thinking of using an input form feature which will preload the questions. It may be that not all questions are relevant to all people - similarly, I wouldn't want to "scare" folk away with a long list of questions in the pre-load form. What do you think?

Your work on the WikiMaster typology was the trigger I needed to get me thinking critically about this typology and how it would potentially map to the 3 workshop formats. So I've done quite a bit of editing on this - hope you're OK with my changes. This "competency" framework should make it easier to map to different workshop formats, eg half day, full-day etc. I would appreciate if:

  • You could read through this from an editorial perspective - be bold and change as needed.
  • Map the outcomes to the OER workshop toolkit to see that we have activities that cover the outcomes.
