Managing Multimembership in Social Networks: Oct 27-Nov 9, 2008 (1)

There have been no changes to this discussion for at least 14 days. If it is concluded, you may want to write a summary.

Sue Wolff, Jeffrey Keefer, Bronwyn Stuckey, and I have been exchanging email about working together on this project and this week had our first planning meeting in the FOC08 24/7 meeting room (handy to have that room!). We're organizing a 2-week asynchronous event (October 26 - November 9, 2008). It will be hosted at SCoPE, which is an educator community that is free and open to the public. The working title is "Managing Multimembership in Social Networks" and we're working on the description here: [1]

We've agreed on a tag for our event: multimembership.

I posted a bit of background info on my blog and more posts tagged multimembership to come!: [2]

So far we've agreed on a format for the event, and we're sketching out a job jar and timeline on our wiki page: Facilitating online communities/course mini conference/multimembership.

More detail about this soon!

Sylvia

Conference project collaborators wanted (1)

There have been no changes to this discussion for at least 14 days. If it is concluded, you may want to write a summary.

For the mini conference, I'd like to do a run-through of our Global Leadership Development course. It is still very much a work in progress, but it is an important OER contribution.

I'm looking for 2 or 3 others who have an interest in making leadership training available to anyone who seeks to learn more about taking charge, taking action and taking responsibility for making the world a better place one project at a time.

Assistance is needed for drafting participant activities, locating appropriate reading, audio and video about leading and leadership, locating projects where participants can contribute, and facilitating the mini conference. Interested in this challenge? Please let me know how you would like to be involved. vtaylor at gmail dot com

Hi Valerie, I would be interested in joining you in creating a global leadership development course. I have taken a few courses in leadership for the past 3 years in my doctoral studies (educational leadership). I am very involved in leadership and the change process.

Please contact me.

Thank you.

Wikis and Collaboration (1)

There have been no changes to this discussion for at least 14 days. If it is concluded, you may want to write a summary.

I'd like to facilitate a session on collaboraiton and wikis. I'm hoping to host a 'special guest' -- a world renowned 'expert' in mass collaboration for a 60-90 minute session, which will include a short presentation and time for Q&A.

I'll need to confirm times/dates, but it's likely to be in the second week of the mini-conf (week ending Nov 9, 2008).

TLC - Think, Learn & Create (1)

There have been no changes to this discussion for at least 14 days. If it is concluded, you may want to write a summary.

Mind maps are a dynamic way to capture significant points of information. They use a global format, allowing information to be displayed in the same way that our brain functions, in many directions simultaneously.

In this 1-hour session we would like to introduce participants to this method of notetaking, followed by a Q&A session with our guest speaker/s.

During this discussion we invite you to post your ideas and questions about what you would wish to gain from this session, planned to be held on Friday 31 October 2008 11 am NZ DST (10 pm Thursday 30 October UTC).

Thanks

Being in Second Life, it looks as if this could shape up to be the first collaborative 3D mind mapper!

The Role of a Facilitator (1)

There have been no changes to this discussion for at least 14 days. If it is concluded, you may want to write a summary.

I recorded an interview with a Community Facilitator. For the mini conference I would like participants to listen to the inteview and then discuss if it has changed their perceived role of a facilitator or is the role of a community facilitator different from that of a facilitator in an educational organisation. This discussion will be held on skype on Wednesday 5th November at 7pm UTC. All intersted people are welcome to attend. It would be good if participants cuold listen to the interview before the session. This is the link.
