Twenty One Day Travel and Tour Course
The main aim of this course is to create awareness as well as inculcate basic knowledge/skills in tourism and to prepare students to work as volunteers, on behalf of the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India, the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM), Delhi invites application from interested students of college/university to apply for this 21 day training programme. The details are as follows:
Eligibility:Students pursuing graduation/post graduation between 18 and 25 years of age. NOC from the college/ university is required for joining this programme.
Mandatory:NOC/Sponsorship letter from the concerned college Principal/HOD, for joining this training programme.
Stipend:Every successful participant will be paid Rs.1000/- for the programme.
Selection:Selection will be made through a written examination to be held at various centres in Delhi.
Training centres:Training shall be conducted at various centres like Jamia Millia Islamia, Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, Amity University U.P.,Noida, Delhi Institute of Hotel Management etc. (Training centre shall be allotted individually to every student. IITTM’s decision in this regard shall be final and binding).
Application Fee:Application completed in all respect should be submitted along with the application fee of Rs.100/- in form of a DD in favour of “Director IITTM”, payable at New Delhi. Duly completed forms can be submitted at IITTM, 4th Floor, IHM Complex, Library Avenue, Pusa, New Delhi 110012 and also at Dept. of Tourism, Hotel, Hospitality and Heritage Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, Jamia Nagar, New Delhi-110025.
Last date of Application:November 27th 2009.
Entrance Exam Date:December 27th 2009.
Training to be conducted in:January, February and March 2010.
WEIGHTAGE: A candidate with acceptable foreign language proficiency (a degree or a recognized certificate course) shall be entitled to additional five marks. Further, a candidate who is pursuing a BA course, or possesses this degree, with History, Archaeology, Fine Arts, Geography, Tourism and Travel, Indian Culture or hotel management as one of the subject shall also be entitled to additional three marks. These additions shall be available separately but on the condition that such additions shall not take a candidate’s marks beyond 50 (maximum marks for the test prescribed). That means if a candidate scores 46/50 and s/he is a BA or studying in BA and also knows a foreign language(s), his/her marks shall be taken as 50/50.
These training programmes titled “Earn While You Learn-Commonwealth Games 2010” Sensitizing Youth to Tourism are scheduled to be conducted in January, February, March 2010 at various centres in Delhi NCT region. So far more than 1100 students have been trained under the scheme.
This training is a very prestigious on going programme of the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India since 2007 for preparing trained manpower in the tourism sector with an eye on the Commonwealth Games 2010. Various aspects related to Indian Society and Culture, Overview of Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Industry, Managerial and Behavioural skills are covered in the training along with study tour for hands on practical exposure.
University Authorities/College Principals are requested to encourage students to participate in this training programme. Application format can be downloaded for the institute website www.iittm.org.
