Palpation

Palpation should be used in the initial massage to determine as accurately as possible which structures have increased muscular tone, fascial adhesion, and trigger point activity (see Neuromuscular effects of stress). This information should be recorded in as much detail in the client records. A body chart is useful for this purpose.

Ideally you should be able to identify which structures were affected by the tension in your last massage session, and where trigger points were located.
