This unit is used in the following courses
Demonstrate knowledge of note making purposes and techniques.
- Five purposes of note making are identified.
Range: may include but are not limited to - record new data; summarise; record ideas; communicate to others; show relationships; create revision notes; plan; for recall.
- At least four note making techniques are identified, and described in terms of their uses.
Range: techniques may include but are not limited to - standard written text; standard written text with graphics (diagrams and/or tables and/or graphs); flow charts; mind maps; diagrammatic forms; comic strips or story boards or other graphic organisers.
Demonstrate note making techniques.
- Two different note making techniques are each used to create a record of information.
Range: each record contains at least ten separate items.
- The purpose of each technique (2.1) is defined.
- Key points (from 2.1) are identified and recorded as a summary, using techniques different from 2.1.
- Own preferred note making technique(s) are identified, and reasons given.
