Question 1

  • Hi - when I tried to submit my username for the workshop, I found myself added to a May 2009 workshop. I tried this again with the same result. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have a solution? pspaven--Pspaven 07:02, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
  • Hello Patrick, I see you have two User accounts: User:Pspaven and User:Patrickspaven, currently using the first one.]] Account User:Patrickspaven was created by mistake and will be deleted, I apologize. Please add content to User:Pspaven. Regarding to Usernames, please click here (bug was already fixed), your username will be submitted to the right page. Thank you. --Gladys Gahona 10:08, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Question 2

  • Must I submit my Wikieducator username only the first day on having registered, or every day on having begun the new activities? --Laura Lara Martínez 12:03, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
  • That's an excellent question, Laura. You only need to do it once so that we can all add feedback and help you edit if you need any help. By the way, you can add your signature when you add feedback to other pages on Wikieducator. Go to the tenth icon in the editing bar once you are in editing mode and click on it. A squiggly line will appea. Save the page and you will see your signature. This is mine: --Nellie Deutsch 10:58, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

  • We disabled the feature so you can respond here and practice your wiki skills. --Nellie Deutsch 20:07, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
  • Hello Mirelle, the Google Group has been set as announcement-only group. Participants post directly on Introductions, Discussions, Feedback and the corresponding User Pages, so all the valuable information reside in Wikieducator pages. --Gladys Gahona 16:24, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

  • Have you noticed there is a table of contents which automatically shows up when you add headings? --Gladys Gahona 00:26, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

  • The instructions and videos are helpful and concise ... thanks, so much. I do tend to "wander around" the features and tabs a tad too much. What would you suggest for a focus right now? --Carolyeager 23:51, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
  • I would keep working on your userpage...which is coming along wonderfully by the way, and leave some comments to some other wikineighbors who are taking this workshop. Also, looking at other user pages is a great way to get ideas as to what you might consider for your own user page. These are only suggestions, of course.--Benjamin Stewart 23:27, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

  • I had lots of fun but got easily distracted by all the leads to interesting content. Now it is 1 a.m. and I still should "fix" the long outline on my page that should be hidden under a subheading. Well, I'll leave that for tomorrow. Many thanks to Gladys for always being on Skype when I need her, and to Nellie for the positive comments.--Marina McIsaac 06:51, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

  • I really enjoyed today's video session. It was great to hear all the suggestions and to interact with those there.--Marina McIsaac 06:10, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
  • Thank you for joining us, Marina. --Nellie Deutsch 06:55, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
  • Bit of a shame I missed that. It was at 5am New Zealand time and I was in a warm bed. It's just too cold in the morning to get up extra early! Still I have made pretty good progress and was very excited to get my Apprentice Level 1 status along with a bit of encouragement from a wikineighbour--Robin 09:57, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
  • Robin, have you watched the video recording? I suggest you keep on working on your user page by referring to the tutorials for reference so you can get the next level of certification. --Nellie Deutsch 10:37, 19 June 2009 (UTC)--Nellie Deutsch
  • Thanks Nellie - my connection is a bit slow tonight so the video didn't load quickly enough. Really stoked to get an upgrade to level 2 whilst I was working though. Thanks for that--Robin 10:59, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
  • Sorry about your connection. I believe in modeling good teaching and learning practice. As teachers, we may need to be reminded what it's like to be learners. After all, what works for us as learners may work for our students, too. --Nellie Deutsch 12:25, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
  • I hear you - as a high school teacher I don't give stars, awards, etc to my students nearly enough. "That's primary school stuff" Not necessarily so. A simple accreditation system is powerful for some learners (like myself). I'm going to mend my ways with my year 10 Science class next week.
  • Thanks for this opportunity I'd like to become a junior facilitator and now I am looking forward to producing my first wiki page as a learning and teaching tool.--Robin 22:20, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
  • All the course is very interesting. --Maria Lara Martinez 15:19, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

  • Congrats on a really well organized course! I have learnt a lot and will strive to apply the gained knowledge to the benefit of the wiki community.--Vicky Saumell 19:16, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
  • Wow!!I really think I need two days to really digest the content of day 5. It is the page I really see the need for me to understand structure. Is the tutorial available all the time so that I can continue. I really learnt alot form this. The pages are well structured and keep you interest.Cathy James-Springer--Cathy James-Springer 04:18, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
The course layout will remain so there is no hurry. You can go at your own pace. --Nellie Deutsch 22:46, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
  • I'm so glad to have met you all and to have had this experience. I plan to use it frequently and continue to improve my skills, so I rely on the class materials and am so glad you will leave the links for us.
